FAQs
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling stuck, struggling with life’s challenges, or simply want a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings, therapy may be a good fit. Our initial consultation provides a risk-free way to see if our services align with your needs.
What can I expect in my first therapy appointment?
In your first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any questions you may have. This session is an opportunity for you to share your story and begin exploring what you’d like to achieve through therapy.
How long does each session last?
Each session typically lasts 50 minutes, which allows us to explore your concerns and make meaningful progress while respecting your schedule.
How often will I need to attend sessions?
Frequency of sessions varies by individual need. Most clients start with weekly sessions, which allows for consistency and momentum. However, we’ll work together to find a schedule that fits your goals and lifestyle.
How long does therapy typically last?
The length of therapy depends on your personal goals and unique journey. Some clients find relief and resolution in a few months, while others choose to continue for longer to explore deeper aspects of personal growth. We’ll regularly check in to assess your progress and adjust as needed.
Is what I say in therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. What you share in sessions is kept private and will not be disclosed without your consent, except in specific cases where disclosure is legally mandated, such as threats of harm to yourself or others.
Do you accept insurance and how does billing work?
Currently, we do not accept insurance and operate as a private-pay practice. Each session is $150, with payment due at the time of each session. Investing in therapy is a valuable step toward improving your mental well-being and personal growth. Your journey to healing and self-discovery is important, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under the No Surprises Act, effective January 1, 2022, healthcare providers are required to give clients who do not use insurance or are self-pay a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected costs for therapy services. This estimate outlines the expected fees and helps you make informed financial decisions regarding your care.
At Oak and Stone Counseling, we are committed to transparency about the cost of therapy. You will receive a Good Faith Estimate detailing the anticipated costs of services. Please note that this estimate reflects an approximation based on the typical course of treatment. Your actual costs may vary depending on the frequency and duration of your sessions, adjustments to your treatment plan, and any additional services requested.
If you receive a bill at least $400 higher than the Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges under the law.
For any questions or to request a Good Faith Estimate, please reach out to us directly. For more details on your rights and protections, please visit CMS.gov/NoSurprises.
